Agency websites guide

A professional agency website needs more than polished pages. Before launch, confirm that the domain reaches the site, forms and chat work, tracking matches your privacy choices, and visitors can recover from a broken link.

Connect the domain with the right DNS records

Create two DNS records with the company that manages your domain. Add an A record with Name/Host @ and Value 23.111.78.250 for the root domain. Add a CNAME record with Name/Host www and Value set to your root domain, such as example.com. If your DNS provider appends the domain name automatically, enter only @ and www. Keep email-related DNS records unchanged.

Enter the domain in the website’s Domain & DNS settings and choose Verify and connect. The check should report the root A record and www CNAME separately. If a record is not pointing correctly, fix it at the DNS provider and try again. After connection, review domain and SSL status in the connected-domain section.

Configure chat and invisible reCAPTCHA

Open Website settings for the individual site. Choose whether to show the coverage AI ChatBot and which configured AI provider it should use. If you enable Google invisible reCAPTCHA, enter the site key and secret key created for the website’s hostnames. Allow the platform address and every connected custom domain in the Google reCAPTCHA settings. Keep the secret key private; it is not for page content or public forms.

Choose how GA4 loads

In Website analytics, add the Measurement ID from the GA4 web data stream; it begins with G-. Turn analytics off to prevent the Google tag from loading. When analytics is on, enabling the consent popup makes the tag wait until the visitor accepts. The choice is remembered for that browser session. If the popup is off, the tag loads without asking first. Select the approach that fits your privacy obligations and explain analytics clearly in your privacy notice.

Review missing-page and contact behavior

Open a made-up URL on both the platform address and custom domain to confirm that the agency-branded 404 page stays on the website’s own domain and links to its homepage. Review every public template for sample email addresses, phone numbers, and contact links. Publish only agency-approved public contact details; never expose a client’s email address in a template or error page.

Run a final launch check

Test the homepage, mobile layout, quote form, contact consent, chat, CAPTCHA, analytics behavior, domain routing, SSL, and not-found page. Confirm the form reaches the intended agency inbox and creates the expected CRM lead. Remove a domain or delete a website only after reading the confirmation: connected domains are removed from the hosting provider, while DNS records at the registrar remain for you to manage.
